〔1 年間浪人すること〕 a year off (to retake entrance exams); postponing university entrance for one year (because one has failed entrance exams); 〔その状態にある人〕 a student preparing to retake entrance exams; a person who has failed (university) entrance exams and is preparing to try again.

～する take a year off (after senior high school) in order to retake entrance exams; spend one year preparing to retake [《口》 cramming for] entrance exams.

●娘は一浪で音大に合格した. My daughter got into a music college after waiting a year to retake the exam.
